Industrial friction materials for brakes, clutches and sliding applications
As a specialist in the processing of fibrous materials and thermoset plastics, Rex Industrie-Produkte Graf von Rex GmbH develops and manufactures friction linings for brakes, clutches and sliding materials with an extremely high load durability and long life time.
From prototypes to serial mass production – in addition to the development of customer and application specific solutions, we specialise in small to medium quantities. We advise you personally and individually, already in the design phase. Thanks to our in-house metal processing facilities, we are able to offer you assembly development and production in combination with friction linings. We produce our own tools.

Rex Industrie friction and sliding materials Made in Germany
Our products are deployed in a wide range of industry applications and meet the highest technical requirements. We are able to press-mould friction pads with demanding specifications in various 3D contours with high dimensional accuracy while maintaining tight tolerances. For very precise tolerances, our CNC-controlled turning and milling machines enable us to produce almost any 3D contours. By pressing fastening elements into the friction pad component, subsequent costs for assembly and bonding are saved and assembly groups are simplified.
The quality management system we implement is certified according to ISO 9001 and is monitored by TÜV Süd. Furthermore, the quality management system for certain products complies with Module D (Production Quality Assurance) of Directive 96/98/EC for marine equipment and is regularly inspected and certified by BG Verkehr.

Products “Made in Germany” for industrial brake, clutch and functional part applications
Rex friction and sliding materials are resin-bonded high-performance fibre composite materials that are manufactured using long-fibre carbon, aramid and high-tech glass fibres. The products are characterised by extremely high load durability and long life time. These material properties allow them to be used both as friction lining and press-moulded parts. Thanks to the very high strength/durability, our materials can be used for full friction moulded rotors with simultaneous power transmission in the toothed area. The damping characteristic of this rotor in comparison to aluminium carriers rounds off the overall package.
The materials for slide rails have high wear resistance at continuous temperatures up to over 270°C.
Advantages of Rex Industry products:
- Asbestos-free
- REACH/RoHS compliant
- Solvent-free
- Metal-free possible
- Made in Germany (product formulas, production, packaging, test laboratory)
- Complete traceability (on request with printed evidence, 100% documentation)
- Higher fibre content than competitor products
- Higher strength than competitor products
- Longer life time than competitor products
- Exclusive use of environmentally friendly premium materials
Materials
The technical specifications concerning friction, strength/durability, temperature and wear behaviour are determined on Rex in-house test benches and are based on test parameters according to internal Rex standards. These can be used as guide values for an initial customer-specific design using common safety values. In the sample and prototype phase, we recommend carrying out application-related tests under the customer-specific application parameters.
The materials listed are standard recipes. Other are available on request.
