VM 17 Granulate
The light beige VM 17 granulate consits of pellets containing a large number of microscopic air chambers. This results in excellent insulation parameters and low density.
Belongs to the group of mica-minerals and is a natural rock. This mica-mineral contains crystal water between the single layers. The granulate results through exfoliation (expansion) of very high temperature (app. 800 - 1000 °C). Trough this process the crystal water evaporates thus separating the single layers. The volume of the granulate increases by 20-fold of the original size.
By the exfoliation process the granulate produced becomes aseptic, bacteria and germ free.
|Sintering Temperature||ca. 1.260 °C|
|Melting Point||ca. 1.315 °C|
|Humidity||1 - 1,5 %|
|Hygienic Characteristc||no silicosis danger|
|Combustibility||non-combustible class A1 conform to DIN 4102|
The following table shows the thermal conductivity of VM 17 granulate in coarse grain. At higher temperatures, a finer grain is recommended due to higher heat resistance. This effect can also be achieved by thoroughly pressurizing the coarse grain to 90 % volume.
