European Technical Assessment

REX fire protection products for joints have been tested according to European standards. Based on the European Technical Assessment (ETA), there is a Declaration of Performance and a CE marking for each product.

Technical guide for fire protection joints

The classified fire protection joint filler Flaton-flex A+SKL is used for fire protection sealing of structural joints. This is one of the top 3 intumescent products in the industry and is used in a wide variety of structures.

Structural engineering

The moment a fire breaks out in a building, there are two main priorities besides extinguishing the fire; fire and smoke containment. Non-combustible Litaflex SM 30 mineral foam and SG 300 joint cord serve exactly this purpose. They prevent the spread of fire and smoke to other sections of the building and thus reliably contain the fire.

Tunnel construction

There are few places where a fire outbreak is as devastating as in a tunnel. Strong temperature fluctuations during a fire can cause structural movement that ordinary fire seals cannot withstand. The Litaflex-Vario joint filler element is specially designed for expansion and movement joints that have to withstand a large range of movement. It retains its fire protection properties even in tunnel fires. REX joint cord is also used in tunnel construction and prevents the breakthrough of fire and smoke for up to 180 minutes.

Wood construction

Since wood is a combustible material, the installation of appropriate fire-protective joint materials becomes even more important. In the event of fire, "Flaton-flex A+SKL" fire protection joint tape and our "Rexpandit" joint filling element foams up in the inserted joints in walls and ceilings, thus preventing the heat caused by the fire from spreading through the joints.
