High temperature solid insulation
The demand for plastically formable high-temperature insulation exists in industry wherever hot gases or liquids have to be supplied, discharged or transferred without affecting the surroundings. With the VM 17 insulation system, REX has developed an appropriate process for this purpose that has proven itself in many areas.
The insulation thickness of the solid insulation is variable and depends on the respective technical requirements. Cutouts or flattenings are possible at any required position. Custom-made products or small series can thus be realised at short notice and at low cost.

The main applications of solid insulation are:
- exhaust gas conducting lines
- air ducts and housings
- flanged elbows and valves
- other hot parts in plant, vehicle, engine and ship construction.
The VM 17 insulation system is based on the VM 17 inorganic insulating compound, which is a class A1 non-combustible building material according to DIN 4102 and is applied to the part to be insulated. After drying, a metal-reinforced rex-thermo glass fabric, also non-combustible according to DIN 4102, is applied using the VM 17 high-temperature binder. The fabric is secured by metal bands at the end points, such as nozzles, flanges and eyes. A high-temperature resistant varnish is applied for surface protection.
Our service for industry: we do the complete insulation. You send us the parts to be insulated. We clean if necessary and then insulate professionally. You will receive the insulated workpieces in the same packaging materials in which they were delivered to us. Alternatively, we can train your staff and sell you the materials you need. A prerequisite for the sale of VM 17 system components is a 1-day training course for your employees at our factory.
