The “Litaflex-Vario XL” fire protection joint seal is a further development of “Litaflex-Vario”, for joints with extreme movement requirements, e.g. in earthquake zones.
One element consists of two or more layers of “Litaflex SM 30”, alternating with layers of “Flaton VPG 12” fire protection board. The largest joint can be extended from 150 mm to 225 mm.
- Building material class C-s1,d0 according to EN 13501-1
- Fire resistance class EI 120 and EI 180
- Joint widths 20 to 50 mm with 100% expansion and
- Joint widths 60 to 150 mm with 50% expansion

According to the building regulations list, the DIN classifications “F 120” and “F 180” are equivalent to the EN classifications “EI 120” and “EI 180”.

The joint system is glued into the joint on both sides. If the joint widens, the element expands. This is made possible by the expansion folds built into the aluminum foil covering. In case of fire, the Flaton VPG 12 fire protection board foams up any cavities that may have formed. The joint is therefore tightly sealed against fire and smoke.
