Flaton joint sealant is a strip-shaped joint element that foams up in the event of fire for fire-protection sealing of structural joints in walls or ceilings. The Flaton joint seal consists of a 2.5 mm thick Flaton VPG 12 fire protection board (approval Z-19.11-457 of the German Institute for Building Technology) and a laminated melamine resin foam (5 mm). The layer of 5 mm melamine foam is used for compressible clamping of the joint seal into the joint. The mode of action is based on the formation of a heat-insulating foam in the event of fire. Joints are filled by the foam and prevent the passage of fire, heat and smoke in the event of fire.
